They say “It’s just a blowdry”… well let’s talk about the earning potential!

A bouncy blowdry helped me build a business I absolutely love. So when someone says “it’s just a blowdry”, let’s do the maths and prove that its soooo much more. You don’t need to start with a salon full of clients. You can start with one service, a few appointments and a plan to build from there.

What could £35 a blowdry add up to?

That last example adds up to £67,200 a year. From one service! But how do you actually build towards a diary like that?

These are examples of gross revenue before expenses and tax, based on £35 per appointment, four weeks per month and every appointment filled.

How do we get here?

1. Get confident in your technique

First things first: give people a result they want to come back for. Practise your prep, sectioning, smoothing, root lift, curl and finish. Understand why you’re doing each step so you can adapt to the hair in front of you.

Start with models, take photos and time yourself. Build consistency before squeezing more clients into your day. Gorgeous hair AND a lovely appointment experience? That’s what you’re aiming for.

2. Start with a diary you can manage

Three clients on one day each week could bring in £420 across four weeks. Start by filling those appointments through your existing contacts, local enquiries and the work you share online.

As demand grows, add days or appointments. Three clients across three days brings the example to £1,260 a month; five clients across those same days brings it to £2,100. Let real bookings guide when you expand.

3. Turn every appointment into content

This is where my Viral Creator & Monetisation Method comes in. Your work needs to be SEEN.

With your client’s permission, film the before, a little of the process and that gorgeous final result. Use my Hook, Process & Payoff approach: grab attention, show the transformation happening, then give them the finished result they stayed to see.

Try a hook like “Fine hair that never holds a blowdry? Watch this.” One appointment could give you a transformation video, a styling tip and a finished-look photo. You don’t need a new client for every post!

4. Help viewers become bookings

Make your location, service and booking link easy to find. Share reviews, answer questions and show what an appointment with you actually looks like.

Then tell people what to do: “Need this for your next event? Book your blowdry through the link in my bio.” Give someone who loves your work a clear next step.

5. Give clients a reason to return

Share aftercare, ask about their next event and offer to book their next visit before they leave. Keep showing up online while looking after the clients already in your chair.

Five clients across five days could bring in £3,500 a month. A busier eight-client day takes that example to £5,600, but a full diary takes practice, time and consistent effort. Build at a pace that keeps your standards high.
